You see some strange stuff when you walk around Beirut with your eyes open, but this takes the cake.
I mean, what the hell?
I solved my parking problem in Hamra by driving there super early, parking where I wanted, and then going on urban safaris until Café Y opens. Today I walked all the way back to Kantari to shoot some old buildings I had spotted and feared would not be left standing very long. One of them in particular has been abandoned so completely and so long that it is entirely hidden in a thick covering of ivy. The building makes a big dark green mass in the middle of the street today with a single white speck: this unhappy-looking teddy bear. God only knows how it got there. All I know is when I drove back past the spot 3 hours later, it was gone. Maybe its mama came to pick it up
Re: placing this in "Street photography": he may not be "people" but he does come across as a candid capture to me!
he looks like he's trying to get out, with his arm kinda out the bars there. Poor little guy! I hope his people came to get him and that's why he was gone. Cities always have strange, unexpected surprises if you look. I left a feather in the window of a stranger's pickup last night...for example. XP
