Beirut Graffiti: Encounters by Majnouna Beirut Graffiti: Encounters by Majnouna
These two are from the same person, but I can't make out his signature.
Above, the Sukleen guy (street sweeper) that can be encountered around every corner – but with a twist, if you look closely.
Below: I have no idea what the camel is about, but it looks so good! The lady was just trying to get past me quickly, but I caught her just at the right time – she looks like she just came nose to nose with the camel and is gaping...
Both of these have been right on the fringe of the central district for months and nobody's interfered with them yet. I'm keeping my eyes open for more from this guy...

These are actually by Arofish, he visited Lebanon in August 2006 and painted several stencil works in Beirut : )

I just can't get over that camel. It's amazing the variation in line that can be attained by someone who knows how to use a spray can well.

It's done using a stencil, actually. All the shapes are far too well-defined :)

I found a blog which it shows the camel one:

[link]

It's nothing really...

I don't know who is really the artist of these two. But they look like some of Banksy's works (same style). Here his web site:

(look in the "outdoors" part).

Hey's that's Jo! blog! :D He's a friend. I know Banksy's work, but these two were done by a local – another friend knowshim, but didn't reveal his identity. I managed to read his signature by now though...

I would guess that "TV" is the "vehicle" to get a message around with (the camel)

I am unfamiliar with he janitor icon so anything different from the norm would be un-noticable

I love well done grafitti. There is an energy about it, probably because it is layed on very quickly in order not to get caught, lol!

Well, rubble... Let's not exaggerate :)

yeah, its true. It's not rubble. But this artist's creativity is a direct outcry against the incursions thrust unwanted upon Beruit. Hence, the expression "art emerges from the rubble," for, sadly, parts of that fair city have become rubble in the ongoing conflicts in the region.

The artist paints on walls still standing to commemorate those no longer standing.

Yes, I'm glad nobody's tampered with them yet (though it looks like that title has been added over the Sukleen.. beh.) I haven't seen the camel one, only the Sukleen one.

There's one with the "Al Akhbar" and small stick figures plugging the TV in? have you seen that one? I don't know if it's by the same person. It's found under that pointless "bridge" with the clock on it, in Ashrafieh? somewhere there..

Yes yes!! I made a special detour to shoot that one last week, it's in the roll that I still have to print :) I really like that one, my thoughts exactly :lmao:
The camel is 20m away from the sukleen, when you go from there towards Tabaris (on the wall of the parking of former Atlantis)
