Breezy Bread: Challah by Majnouna Breezy Bread: Challah by Majnouna
This Jewish braided bread, close in taste and texture to a brioche, is so tasty! It's usually made with 3 (as here), 5, 6 or even 7 strands.

THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE. Read the recipe and description in full and try to use your brain (+ google, wikipedia etc) before asking something dickish or lazy, or you'll be ignored.

I wondered how to make Challah! I never bothered to look it up because I mostly bake goodies and cook Italian as well as Balkan food. I am not that great with making bread, I will have to give this a try. Thanks for sharing with us Epic clap

dang it, I'm out of honey and I really want to make this. If I need to substitute sugar, is it equal amounts, or a certain amount less?

For sugar you need double the amount :) and just omit the honey in the glaze.

That's really neat. I don't think I've ever seen a recipe that's so easy to understand, pleasant to look at, and quick to read! :D

Hope you don't mind, but I used step 7 of your tutorial to make a piece of my latest clay sculpture. If you like, you can see it here: mystiecub.deviantart.com/art/S…

The only problem I have with this is the font xD

is an actual letter in my country, so seeing it as 0 is really weird xP

0 is often written barred to differentiate it from o ^^

Yes, I know that, but it I think the bar is supposed to be the other way for that actually xP If I'm not entirely mistaken.

What temperature would you aim to have the dough at after mixing? I know with white bread it's 27 degrees C, and that means I have my water pretty darn chilly because of the weather where I am.

There's no specific temperature, it just has to be warm. I have a very hot boiler room where I make my dough rise, but you can put it near a radiator. Another way is to turn your oven on at a low temperature for a few minutes, then turn it off and put the dough in as it will stay warm a while.

But, are the spoon measurements in teaspoons or tablespoons? I would hate to get it wrong. XD
