Quick food: Dahl soup by Majnouna Quick food: Dahl soup by Majnouna
:pointl: Check out the book!

Such a satisfying and easy soup! You can play with the spices, and if you like it smooth, blend the lentils before adding them in step 4. Personally I like texture in my soups so I leave them be. Lentils are a powerhouse as a rule, and they cook quicker than other pulses, they just need a lot of flavoring.

I'm sorry to say that this was not that tasty for me. The texture was weird, and it was strangely bland. A little extra salt helped with that, but the texture still kills this for me. Guess I'm gonna have to stick with the Chickpea Rosemary soup instead! That was much tastier.

I converted my sister to it as well. "But I don't like curry!" "Just taste this once, please!" - and that was it :) She also loved your guacamole recipe. Thank you for helping me build confidence in my meager cooking skills :D

You should put all these together into a book. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Your way of illustrating the steps is the clearest and simplest way to show it. Absolute genius.

Definitely going to make this soon! I had Dahl soup for the first time at an Indian restaurant in Copenhagen not long ago and I felt like it would be the perfect recipe to make when someone's ill and trying to get better! But I didn't know it could be so easy to make, thanks a lot!

I don't know if it's the same recipe as there are probably a ton of variations, but this one's definitely easy and you can probably adjust it with experience!

I just made this and it's yummy! I'm missing some of the condiments and used another type of lentils, but it still works of course. I especially like the idea of lemon in a soup, which I never tried before myself :) My happy stomach thanks you :XD: (typing comment hoping it cools down so I can eat it already!!)

I just made it again today, because it's soup weather! ^^ I even added half a green chilli, yum! Oh, I put lemon in everything, you can never go wrong :XD: Glad you enjoyed it!

Does it matter the color of the lentils? I have brown ones and day-glo orange ones atm, but no red (and I haven't been able to find red, anywhere).

:giggle: I think the day-glo orange ones are the ones called "red lentils". Mine certainly were orange, despite their name!

Awesome! I've been using them in a soup with onions and carrots, and I really like them.
Going to make this tonight or tomorrow night. It looks really good, and really easy.

Looks good, but I'll skip the cilantro, as it tastes like Ivory soap to me. Is there something else that can be subbed?

You can omit it altogether, or substitute any fresh green that you would enjoy with that. Maybe parsley or even basil? Or fresh oregano if available!
