Quick food: Garlic mushrooms in yoghurt by Majnouna Quick food: Garlic mushrooms in yoghurt by Majnouna
:pointl: Check out the book!

I made this today and OMG couldn't believe how tasty it was! I used a tangy goat labneh (it's like Greek yoghurt) so it was extra flavorful but it'll be just as good, and possibly to the liking of more tastebuds, with the regular stuff. I expect you can use Philadelphia or the like, too, but there's a lot more fat in it and personally I'd find it too creamy and heavy.

Wow, what an interesting combination. Yoghurt with... garlic!
I will try it, cause now I'm curious whether it will taste good :>

Funny, for us yogurt is only used in savoury cooking, so garlic is a natural ally!

Im not a big fan of green chillies/spicy things, would cutting them out radically change the recipe?
Everything else about this recipe sounds amazing!!!

Really glad to see you posted this comment, because I was considering making this until I saw the pepper (my husband also doesn't do spicy things). How did it end up tasting?

I'm sure that would be fine :) With the cilantro and garlic, the flavor will still be rich.

You could replace them with artichoke hearts or baked potatoes cut into chunks :)

My mom makes me this Iranian appetizer which involves yogurt mixed with spinach that fried with crushed garlic and topped with crushed walnuts. Extremely simple yet nutritious! ;-) She keeps pushing me to make it as I'm a college student whose iron has been plummeting recently >,<

This sounds delicious. 8D I might try this for dinner sometime. Of course now I'm curious about labneh...it'll probably be next to impossible to obtain in midwest USA, but I'll try to look for it. :D

It's strained yoghurt, so any form of that will work :) I think Greek yoghurt is easy to find in the US?
