I'm a big proponent of cooking one's own food, as it's never as healthy and as nutritious (and tasty!) as when you make it yourself, with love and fresh ingredients free of preservatives, but I understand the common reason not to: too tired after work, no time when I get home, etc.

So I started sharing some recipes that are specifically simple and quick to make. Simple as in they have to fit on a single page, and quick as in 30 minutes tops (Quick food, not fast food!). I think it's good to have a collection of these for those days where cooking is really difficult, even though on a regular day I'm happy to spend 2 hours making a salad if the result is interesting enough. This one is an old favorite, I never get tired of it. Enjoy!

My original inspiration for these was Sarah Becan's awesome Sauceome comics!

Do you put the salt into the water, or onto the penne?

Not like this. I'm trying to learn . . . ^^; I'm still in high school . . . an amateur.

Ok, well you just need a bit of salt in the water, and don't put the pasta in until it's boiling heartily. Then make sure you take them off the fire and drain the water as soon as they're soft enough to eat (takes 5-10 mn depending on the type), otherwise they start getting too soft!

Yes salt. I took it for granted that people knew how to boil pasta, which may have been a mistake.

Tried this the other day, but had to use couscous since I didn't have any penne and it came out AMAZING! Thank you for the amazing recipes, cheap and easy to make and above all delicious ^.^
