Quick food: Sweet and sour soup by Majnouna Quick food: Sweet and sour soup by Majnouna
I have a huge backlog of recipes in various stages of completion :XD: It's been a busy month and I haven't even managed to update my journal with happenings. But in the meanwhile, winter has returned!! So it's soup season again, and here's a really quick and healthy one. You can add a carrot to make it more sweet, or omit it altogether. A can of chopped tomatoes can be substituted for the fresh plum tomatoes.

More recipes in my folder: Quick Food, Not Fast Food. Info on the book: Quick Food, Not Fast Food: the book! by Majnouna

THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE. Read the recipe and description in full and try to use your brain (+ google, wikipedia etc) before asking something dickish or lazy, or you'll be ignored.

How much in in the serving? It says that it can serve 2, but my family doesn't always eat a lot of soup, considering they have a sandwich or crackers on the side. Thank you, and I love the easy-to-follow illustration on all of your recipes! ^^

As a side dish or entrée to a full meal you could stretch it to 4 small portions. You're welcome!

I tried this, it was soooo good! I absolutely loved the sweet-sour taste even though I've never been the biggest soup fan. Thanks for the awesome recipe. I wish you great success with the book :) I think it would be very useful for college students like me :D

I love how you make the symbols look so interactive. It may cause people want to click on the page, ´til they realize they are supposed to do these things in real life like real men do.

oh mai :U

Any suggestions for replacing the peppers though?  Raw peppers don't agree with me.

They're not raw, they're cooked o_O You can always leave them out.

Er, i misspoke, I meant raw as in just the straight pepper itself ^^; I can have the seasoning pepper powders but not the actual vegetable.
How much does it affect the soup's flavor if they're omitted though?

You'll end up with a tomato-carrot soup and that's rather more dull, but then again a veggie soup is a veggie soup, throw in anything else you may fancy and you'll just get a different soup– beetroot, courgette, potato? But wait, what is it about fresh peppers that you can't eat? Because bell peppers have no heat at all, unlike the rest of the capsicum family.

IDK what it is really, but bell peppers, yellow peppers, jalapenos, any pepper that hasn't been dried and ground for seasoning makes my insides hurt.  And some other symptoms that will not be listed here.

Hmmm...potato, we've got plenty of.  I'll have to make this on Friday when I get home o-o

Ok, fair enough! Some people don't digest them. What about butternut squash?

Oh my! You made me hungry! :o

...I seriously need to get one of those soup-mixer-blender things. They really do wonders to soup. :paranoid:

They're very convenient. They're very affordable, don't take up as much room as a whole food processor, and save the trouble of having to transfer stuff to the food processor and back with all the extra dishes that implies.

I'll keep my eyes open for good offers, I assume it doesn't have to be an expensive one to do the job! :dummy:
